Can I be paid for my House-Sitting mandate?

Yes and no, yes if you are in your country and you report your income to the revenue agencies. Not unless you have a Work Visa and declare this income in the country where you will receive this income. Receiving income for House-Sitting is not what we advise you in this approach.

How do I deal with my bank accounts?

One of the first things to do is to become aware of the new obligations when you log into your online account.

Now most banks, credit unions and credit companies have a double authorization process before accessing your online account.

You must understand that this means that the software that your bank, credit union or credit card uses verifies which computer or laptop wants to connect to the account, the place of connection, the password, your email in addition to the phone number.

For all these validations you must take into account that during your trip you will no longer be at home and that probably you will no longer have access to several of your accounts if you do not make changes to them.

Here's what you should do: first inform your bank, credit union and credit card companies that you will be out of your usual area for the duration of your mandate.

This will not be enough for the majority of your accounts to make your accounts available online. The systems that manage your online accounts are not human and most of the time you will have to contact customer services who are often in a country other than your financial institution or credit company.

At a minimum, here's what you'll need to do to simplify all these steps: first, you make sure all the devices you will use while traveling are already registered and that you have access to your online bank and credit accounts without worry.

Secondly, you subscribe to the Express VPN service which is a structure that will serve you to use a local connection without the systems detecting that you are no longer in your usual region.

Third, have a phone number with an international IP that you will enter in the phone numbers of your online bank and credit accounts before you leave.

It will be important before your departure to have this number that will contact you during double authorizations by phone.

See the International Phone Number with IP section for additional information.

What to do with your mail?

A redirection of your mail is advisable in case you accept mandates of medium and long term.

Have your mail redirected to the address of a person who will be able to inform you of the various letters you have received during your mandate.
